Novoreich in METRO 2039
The old Metro was an argument between stations. The new Metro is a speech. Novoreich is the banner 4A throws over that change: one leader, one future on the surface, and a population still trapped in tunnels listening to it.
Unity as a threat
Deep Silver’s pitch begins with twenty-five years of bitter conflict under Moscow. Then a single leader. Then the correction: this is no peace. Hunter’s Novoreich rules through propaganda and fear, subjugating people in the name of a war for the surface against a dark enemy. Official language does not soften that. Neither should a wiki.
The Renegade trailer lets a station local say the quiet part: Novoreich spread across Sevastopolskaya like a plague. A shelter can still be a occupied room. NPC crowds in preview hubs looked alive — children, drinkers, workers — under that occupation. Frozen Stories will be full of pamphlets. Read them. Then read Hunter so the signature on the pamphlet has a body.
The Stranger walks into this as an outsider. That is useful for new players and for 4A: you are not asked to remember every Red Line treaty. You are asked to notice when a station smiles too hard. Sevastopolskaya is the tutorial in noticing.
The surface as a lie
The promised future is above. The surface pages and trailers show thawing, irradiated streets, mutant families, empty pharmacies. If Novoreich is sending people up, it is sending them into a filter tax. Survival doctrine on this wiki assumes the regime’s optimism is advertising.
Dark Ones appear in Hunter’s training film as a thing to destroy. Series veterans hear that word and flinch; 2033 made a thesis out of it. 2039, from a Ukrainian room, is allowed to reuse the slur as a tyrant’s prop. We will not spoil whether the campaign agrees with him. We will say the propaganda is part of the level art.
How the regime shows up in systems
Expect checkpoints, restricted rooms, and human dens that belong to the state rather than to random bandits. Kaban is a henchman, not a faction of his own. Bandit problems in the Xbox Wire session were still Hunter’s problems. Combat against watchmen is stealth-into-loud. Crafting blueprints may wear logos that tell you which economy armed the gun in your hand. Look at the stamp.
Language support became a political story of its own: Steam currently lists English in full and Russian as unsupported, with Ukrainian discussed by the studio. That is not a gameplay system, but it is part of how Novoreich’s world is being framed in 2026. The release desk tracks the store page without turning this wiki into a comment section.
- Structure — single banner over former rival stations.
- Leader — Hunter as Fuhrer.
- Pitch — salvation on the surface.
- Practice — propaganda, fear, occupation of hubs.
- Enemy image — a “dark” other, including Dark Ones in training films.
Read the walls
4A’s Frozen Stories pitch is the Novoreich bible. Bodies, posters, trays, statues — they are sentences. If you sprint, you will fight the regime and never understand it. If you walk, The Stranger’s nightmares and Hunter’s films start to rhyme. That rhyme is the point of a Metro plot.

Frequently asked questions
+ Is Novoreich a new faction or a renamed Reich?
It is 4A’s 2039 regime name. Official copy frames it as fascist unity under Hunter, not as a player-choice faction board.
+ Are the old Metro factions gone?
Copy says they have been united. How much remnant culture remains is a campaign question, not a FAQ answer.
+ Does Novoreich control the surface?
They sell a war for the surface. Previews still show the surface as irradiated and mutant-held. See surface.
+ Is there a resistance I join?
4A has said there are no easy heroes left. Do not assume a clean rebel questline until it is shown.
