Looted interior from METRO 2039 where crafting parts hide in Frozen Stories

METRO 2039 Items

Items are time made solid. A filter is minutes of surface. A medkit is a mistake you bought back. A handful of metal is either a magazine or a future knife you will not throw. This catalogue stays inside what previews named, then points at the guides that spend those stacks correctly.

The stacks that matter

Filters. You craft them from chemicals, you find them in pharmacies, you watch them die on your wrist. They are the only item that can override a perfect stealth run. Keep more than you think. Survival is the doctrine. The filter timer is the drill.

Medkits. Named in IGN’s drugstore loop beside ammo and filters. Metro medkits have always been slow enough to punish panic. Assume you cannot chug one in a nosalis pile. Clear, then stitch.

Ammo types. Metal balls, incendiary, armor-piercing. Match the target. Weapons and combat argue about when a round is a waste. This page only insists you do not merge them into one “bullets” number in your head.

Materials are items until they become kit

Metal and chemicals are field items. They take slots, they tempt you to over-loot, and they do nothing until a backpack hits dry ground. The rare attachment resource is the one you should not dump into a curiosity gun. Spend it on the sight you will actually use this hour. Crafting is the recipe book.

Throwing knives sit on the border between weapon and item. They stack, they return, they fail the economy if you leave them in a wall. Retrieve them. IGN did. You should.

Ruined hotel interior in METRO 2039 dense with scavengable clutter
If a room looks dressed, it is dressed for you. 4A does not scatter junk without a sentence.

Budgeting a hatch

Before you leave a hub like Sevastopolskaya, count four numbers: filters, medkits, quiet kills (knives), loud kills (magazines). If any column is zero, craft or shop. Official shops have been described as present; prices are TBA. Do not invent bullet currency rates from Exodus and assume they survived.

On the surface, filters outrank everything. In a human den, knives and AP outrank souvenirs. In a horror puzzle room, your items should stay in the pack while you read. Xbox Wire’s school did not need a drum mag. It needed attention.

  • Filters — air, crafted from chemicals, watched on the bracer.
  • Medkits — slow recovery, not a panic button.
  • Metal — ammo and metal-ball crafts.
  • Chemicals — filters and medical crafts.
  • Rare parts — attachments only.
  • Knives — reusable if you pick them up.
  • Special ammo — incendiary and AP, spend on purpose.

What we refuse to list

No moral-point trinkets, no invented “Ranger cookies,” no pre-order ammo packs that Deep Silver has not announced. If a storefront later adds a survival pack, it will land on editions with a date. Until then, the only honest item list is the one previewers had to manage with their hands.

For the body that holds these stacks, read equipment. For the guns that drink them, read weapons. For the first-hour ritual that spends them, read how to play.

Frequently asked questions

+ Is military-grade ammo still a currency?

Not confirmed for 2039. Do not price shopkeepers with Exodus memory. Wait for a retail ledger.

+ Can items be dropped on the floor?

The backpack animation implies a physical inventory. Drop rules are unpublished.

+ Do filters stack in the mask or the pack?

Series habit is spares in the pack, one seated in the mask. 2039 has not posted a slot count.

+ Where do I farm chemicals?

Pharmacies and dressed interiors in previews. There is no published farm route; see surface.
