METRO 2039 Release Date
The date moved from a seasonal fog to a month. It has not yet moved to a day. If a thumbnail promises “released tonight,” it is lying. This page is the calendar 4A has actually spoken.
From teaser week to a locked month
13 April 2026: the title is out in the world. 16 April 2026: Xbox First Look premieres the six-minute reveal and a developer conversation. Deep Silver’s first public window is “this winter.” Within two weeks, wishlists cross one million across Steam and other platforms. That is the announcement beat, not the ship beat.
7 June 2026: the Hunter gameplay trailer at Xbox Games Showcase. 4A uses that video to name February 2027 as the month you get the game on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, Steam and Epic. Wikipedia, Gematsu, Eurogamer and the official site now agree on February 2027. That is the lock we use in every title stamp on this wiki.
August 2026: gamescom. Hands-on previews, the Renegade trailer, a Collector’s helmet in Hall 9.1, and Embracer confirming the title hit one million wishlists faster than anything else in the group. Five months of polish, in Metro.co.uk’s phrasing, still sit on the clock if you count from that show floor to a February ship. Exact day remains TBA — a database “1 February” is a first-of-month placeholder, not a 4A lock. Full recap on gamescom 2026. Watch platforms when storefronts put a Tuesday on the button.
Why the month matters for players
A February 2027 FPS from 4A is a post-holiday PC GPU market and a post-holiday console queue. If you need ray-tracing hardware — 4A said the renderer is fully ray-traced and expects that bar in 2027 — the platforms page is your homework, not a Steam sale timer. If you want the helmet box, editions warns that the run is limited and pre-orders open later in 2026, which may mean they open before you have a day.
Content-wise, a dated month is why this wiki exists now. Guides can be honest about previews without pretending to be a launch-week walkthrough. Come back when the day drops; the how to play page will still be the on-ramp.
Dates that are not ship dates
The 16 April showcase is a trailer date. The 7 June Hunter reel is a gameplay date. Gamescom 2026 is a preview date. Steam’s “planned release date: February 2027” is the ship window. YouTube videos titled as full walkthroughs before that window are either older Metro footage or fiction. We only embed official clips, like the showcase on how to play.
If 4A slips, this page will say slipped. We will not hold a fake countdown that ignores a blog post. RSS the official Metro channel and Deep Silver; treat aggregator “leaked November” posts as noise.

Frequently asked questions
+ What day in February 2027?
Not published. The month is official. The day is TBA.
+ Was it delayed from winter 2026?
The first window was a seasonal “winter.” The Hunter trailer specified February 2027. That is a clarification more than a soap-opera delay post.
+ Is there a timed Xbox exclusive window?
Launch is described as simultaneous on PS5, Xbox Series and PC. See platforms.
+ Should I refund a pre-order if the day slips?
Platform store policies differ. This wiki is not a store. Track official blogs and keep editions bookmarked if you queued for the helmet.
